From the very beginning, these two made it clear they wanted something easy, joyful, and completely them. Nothing overly posed. Nothing too formal. Just the two of them laughing, celebrating, and soaking up every second of being newly engaged. So instead of heading to a park or garden, we met at Amicus Brewing in Tallahassee, one of their favorite spots in town.


It turned out to be the perfect choice.


There’s something magnetic about photographing people who forget the camera is even there... which is exactly what happened during this engagement session. Wes and Ash didn’t need much direction. They were just themselves: unfiltered, radiant, and completely in love.


We began the session inside. They grabbed two drinks at the bar and settled into a table. They clinked glasses, traded sips, whispered something only the other could hear. Their laughter echoed off the walls. The space around them disappeared.

We wandered outside next to a courtyard with perfect golden hour light and lush grass. I couldn't get over the way they looked at each other. The way their hands kept finding each other or how they'd burst out laughing for no reason at all. Those were the moments I kept capturing. They were playful and sweet, totally present, and fully in love. Props or perfect poses weren't the focus of this session. It was about storytelling. About capturing what it feels like to be completely at ease with your person. A local brewery may not be your first thought when location scouting for an engagement shoot, but it made perfect sense for Wes and Ash... it's the place where they’ve spent time, shared stories, and made memories together. And that personal connection made it feel even more romantic.
